Among his major responsibilities, the Executive Vice-President & Provost (EVPP) is the chief academic officer who provides leadership in setting the University's overall academic strategy and priorities; and oversees the University's core mission in advancing learning and knowledge.

The Office of the Executive Vice-President & Provost (EVPPO) supervises schools and academic divisions/departments in the delivery of teaching, research and service to the community. It also provides oversight of the academic personnel (including recruitment, retention, tenure and promotion).

In addition to the academic leadership, the office also plays an overall managing role in coordinating and synergizing the various University functions towards the agreed strategies and goals.
